Physiotherapy Healthcare Support Worker
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Physiotherapy Healthcare Support Worker based in Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda (YCR) Hospital on the In patient rehabilitation wards. The successful candidate will support the physiotherapists and the multi\-disciplinary team to provide physiotherapy intervention and facilitate hospital discharges. The post will mainly involve working with the elderly. Experience of working within a therapy role or within a healthcare setting would be an advantage for this role.
The hours will be 37\.5 hours/week, Mon\-Fri.
The successful candidate will be a key member of the physiotherapy team as well as the multidisciplinary team and will work under supervision and guidance of trained physiotherapists to: provide direct intervention to patients; assist with administrative tasks and information gathering (including data collection and inputting); and to promote best quality patient care throughout the in\-patient admission.
Full training will be provided to ensure the successful candidate is supported and a competency framework will be used to ensure they have the appropriate skills to assist with physiotherapy treatments, and to carry a caseload of patients where mobilisation and exercise plans need to be complete.
Work will primarily involve:
Carrying out treatment plans devised by the Physiotherapists.
Assisting the therapists in the assessment and treatment of patients with physical or cognitive impairments.
Raising to the therapists when programmes needs changing, reassessing or adjusting
Working alongside the multi\-disciplinary team and family/carers
Participating in the treatment and discharge planning of patients.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short\-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking \& Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2\) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
