Post Title: Phoenix Process Owner \- Business Analyst

SBU/Department: Academic Registry

FTE: 1\.0 FTE (working 37 hours per week)

Duration of Contract: Fixed Term Contract until 28 September 2028

Annual Leave: 30 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: Maclaurin Building, Hatfield

The University has flexible location principles, but there is an expectation that this post, will where be required, be able to be on campus any day of the working week

We are looking to appoint a Phoenix Process Owner – Business Analyst to join our Phoenix programme team of 26 individuals who each bring their own substantial proven experience, and who are currently focused on managing change/digital transformation across a large or complex service operation, successfully supporting the delivery of the Phoenix programme, a new Student Record System, on time and on budget.

Main duties and responsibilities

The role as Phoenix Process Owner – Business Analyst will be instrumental in the definition and translation of our current business processes to evaluate and pursue opportunities aligned to our new system. You will own, document and maintain end to end business processes for the allocated functional area, ensuring that process design is clear, coherent and aligned with the wider Phoenix implementation approach and timeline.

You will also assess the business implications of system functionality, configuration, data and proposed developments, identifying gaps and recommending pragmatic solutions or changes where required and develop and maintain a strong understanding of UK higher education issues, guidance, policy, regulation and sector developments and assess their impact on Phoenix and the University. You will also ensure future processes and business decisions align with legal and regulatory requirements and relevant University policies and regulations.

Skills and experience required

You will have knowledge and experience of higher education administration, regulatory requirements and associated business processes, and proven experience of business process ownership, design, analysis or improvement at an appropriate level. You will also have experience of dealing with internal contacts at many levels and experience of designing, reviewing and enhancing end to end business processes.

Evidence of problem\-solving skills and finding pragmatic solutions for complex, business critical problems is essential as is the ability to understand and interpret complex regulations and specifications and the ability to analyse complex business processes. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to have several tasks running simultaneously with excellent attention to detail.

Qualifications required

You will be educated with a minimum of a Degree or equivalent, or proven administrative experience. A relevant professional qualification and/or relevant accreditation is desirable.
