About the Role

Shropshire Health Clinic is a growing private healthcare service committed to delivering high\-quality, patient\-centred care. We pride ourselves on providing a professional, welcoming, and calm environment alongside an excellent standard of clinical service.

We are seeking a reliable, organised professional, and confident Phlebotomist to join our team on a regular weekly basis. The successful candidate will work every Monday morning from 7:00am to 11:00am, carrying out phlebotomy services for our patients while also providing reception cover when required.

This position will begin with a 3\-month mutual assessment period, allowing both the successful candidate and the clinic to ensure the role is the right fit before progressing to a longer\-term arrangement.

Key ResponsibilitiesPhlebotomy Duties

  • Perform venepuncture safely and efficiently for patients

  • Ensure accurate patient identification and specimen labelling

  • Prepare samples for collection and transportation in line with protocols

  • Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control

  • Monitor patient wellbeing during and after blood collection procedures

  • Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation

  • GP on hand to support with an difficult samples
Reception \& Administrative Support
  • Provide a warm, professional welcome to patients attending the clinic

  • Assist with patient check\-in and appointment coordination

  • Answer telephone and email enquiries in a timely and courteous manner

  • Support appointment booking and amendments using clinic systems

  • Process payments and basic administrative tasks where required

  • Ensure reception and waiting areas remain clean, organised, and presentable

  • Provide reception cover during periods of staff absence or annual leave where agreed
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Use clinical systems (e.g. Semble or similar) accurately and efficiently

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with GDPR requirements

  • Support document management, scanning, and filing as required

  • Assist clinicians and administrative staff with general operational tasks
Person SpecificationEssential
  • Qualified and experienced phlebotomist

  • Excellent venepuncture skills with confidence working independently

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Professional, friendly, and compassionate manner

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

  • Confident IT skills and ability to learn clinic systems

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work consistently every Monday morning
Desirable
  • Previous experience within a private healthcare setting

  • Reception or healthcare administration experience

  • Familiarity with Semble or similar clinical software

  • Understanding of GDPR and patient confidentiality requirements

  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment

  • Willing to learn how to perform ECGs
Working Pattern
  • Fixed weekly shift:

  • Monday: 7:00am – 11:00am

  • Additional hours: to cover other staff holiday, but also we are rapidly expanding and hope to offer many more sessions in the upcoming months.
