JOB DESCRIPTION
Dispensing Assistant
Reports to: Pharmacy Manager\- Louise Keith
Based at: Keith's Pharmacy , 404 Cottingham Road
Hours: TBC
Main purpose of the role
The Dispensing Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the pharmacist They will carry out day to day activities connected with the preparation and supply of medicines and will provide advice to patients on the use of medicines as well as on general health and lifestyle matters.
Primary responsibilities
- To select, label and dispense correct items in accordance with SOPs to ensure safe supply to patients
- To dispense CDs in accordance with SOPs to ensure legal compliance
- To ensure, at the point of sale, the safe and correct supply of dispensed items to patients
- To identify problems in administration of medicines, such as medicine interactions and other physical factors that may affect patient compliance
- To create and update patient medication records in accordance with data protection principles to ensure patient confidentiality
- To assist with stock control and inventory procedures to maximise availability and minimise waste
- To ensure the safe and appropriate storage of medicines
- To assist with the preparation of monitored dosage and cassette box systems to benefit patients on multiple medication regimes
- To support the pharmacy with the delivery of services to customers e.g. Flu Service, Covid Vaccination, Blood Pressure, EHC, Minor AIlments
- To support pharmacy colleagues and mentor others through the timely completion of training courses
- To work as part of a team and actively demonstrate a willingness to support and achieve the overall business objectives
- To be involved in offering advice on common ailments to patient, referring to the pharmacist where needed and offering self\-care advice and supporting public health campaigns.
- General tasks to be completed e.g. cleaning, tidying, organising the shop and dispensary.
- Completion of an Accredited Dispensary Assistants Course
- Methodical and accurate approach to practical tasks
- Commitment to continuing professional development and training
- Trustworthy and understanding of confidentiality issues
- High level of concentration
- Excellent memorisation skills \& multi\-tasking skills
- Strong communication and excellent customer service skills
- Professional, tactful and friendly attitude
- Ability to work effectively to deadlines
- Excellent team working skills
- IT literate
Pay: £10,000\.00\-£18,000\.00 per year
