People & Culture Manager

Role Purpose
You are responsible for the people \& culture agenda across the business. Your role is primarily weighted towards the production site but also covers the wider business. You own the end\-to\-end processes of production staff recruitment, engagement, welfare, training and development, employee relations and HR compliance – and you partner with the leadership team to build a capable, engaged and fully resourced team across the bakery \& total business.
Scope of the Role
· Lead \& deliver the people \& culture agenda for the production site and the wider business
· Focus: majority production site, remainder on total\-business
Key ResponsibilitiesResourcing \& Workforce Planning
· Own end\-to\-end recruitment process for the bakery and warehouse site – attraction, selection and onboarding – to help ensure every shift is resourced to plan with the right people in the right roles.
· Drive the progression from agency to trained, full\-time employees, reducing reliance on agency labour by improving employee satisfaction \& retention rates.
· Manage agency and recruitment partners on cost, quality of candidate and speed to hire.
Training, Development \& Capability
· Own the production site’s skills matrix, making sure training is current, evidenced and matched to operational demand across all three shifts.
· Support the delivery of the training and development plan – induction, on\-the\-job upskilling, leadership development and succession.
· Support managers to run regular performance reviews and development plans that stretch the team and recognise high performance.
Employee Relations \& Welfare
· Own all employee relations casework across the business – disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance management – handling matters fairly, consistently and to the letter of policy.
· Own the welfare agenda, championing wellbeing, fair treatment and a respectful working environment across the total business.
Engagement \& Culture
· Own the engagement agenda: run bi\-yearly engagement surveys and build and deliver the improvement plan that comes off the back of them.
· Help build a culture where accountability, collaboration and safety\-first behaviours are the norm, holding regular catchups with operatives and Shift Managers and feeding what you hear into the wider business.
· Support internal communications to the shopfloor – town halls and toolbox talks – so every shift knows the priorities, the performance and the plan and how they fit into the wider business objectives
HR Compliance \& Employment Law
· Keep both the production site and the wider business compliant with all relevant employment legislation, right\-to\-work requirements and audit standards, running regular checks to prove it.
· Own and maintain HR policies, contracts and the employee handbook, keeping them current and consistently applied.
· Maintain accurate people records and HR systems and ensure GDPR compliance in all people data handling.
Pay, Cost \& People KPIs
· Partner with Finance on the labour budget, supporting Production to optimise labour cost per unit and attainment to plan.
· Support the annual pay review, benchmarking and benefits, balancing market competitiveness against budget.
· Manage production payroll inputs, time and attendance accuracy and holiday and absence controls.
· Monitor and help deliver all people KPIs – turnover, % full time, agency reduction, absence, training completion, satisfaction and engagement.

Pay: £35,000\.00\-£40,000\.00 per year
