Hybrid, Bracknell

About the role
Basis Technologies is hiring a Payroll Specialist to support payroll and benefits administration across our UK, US and international regions. This is a part\-time, hybrid role based in Bracknell, working closely with and fully supported by our Payroll Manager.
This is a great opportunity for someone with solid UK payroll fundamentals who is ready to broaden their experience into global payroll. You will take ownership of day to day data entry, validation and administration, with the Payroll Manager providing oversight, final approval and guidance. The role suits someone who is meticulous, numerate and comfortable spotting the small anomalies that protect payroll accuracy, and who enjoys being a friendly, reliable first point of contact for colleagues.
What you'll be doing
Payroll processing and administration
- Assist with the preparation, submission and processing of monthly payrolls across all regions, with hands on data entry and administration for the UK and US
- Review and validate payroll data, including starters, leavers and employee changes
- Support calculations for pay, bonuses, deductions, parental leave and statutory payments such as SSP and SMP
- Gather data and input it into the relevant regional templates
- Help manage relationships with third party payroll providers supporting our international regions, including Canada, Hungary, Germany, Australia and Spain
- Process pension submissions and related deductions for the UK and US
- Administer US Health Savings Account (HSA) payments
- Check and reconcile payroll data and provider reports, looking carefully for anomalies to ensure accuracy before processing
- Produce payroll reports for internal teams, including HR and Finance
- Maintain accurate, up to date payroll documentation, including payroll registers, tax filings and audit trails
- Support year end processes, including P60s and P11Ds
- Act as the first point of contact for routine payroll queries, escalating more complex issues to the Payroll Manager
- Review current processes and suggest practical improvements based on your payroll experience
Is this opportunity for you?
Experience
- A solid understanding of UK payroll fundamentals and practices
- Experience of smaller volume payrolls or a small business environment is highly desirable, as it calls for agility and a resourceful, hands on approach
- An appetite to learn global and US payroll processing; direct international payroll exposure is welcome but not essential
- Experience of liaising with payroll bureaus is advantageous
- Good numerical ability and accurate data entry
- A sharp eye for detail and a talent for spotting anomalies
- The ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Reliable and deadline focused
- Friendly, flexible and collaborative within a small, close knit team
- Proactive, with a genuine willingness to take ownership
