Bayleaf care is expanding and looking for a payroll and onboarding administrator. This is an exciting time to be joining Bayleaf, in under 1 year we have increased our children’s homes from 2 to 6 and our HR and recruitment team from 2 to 6 people, creating a lively and friendly atmosphere in the office. We are at a crucial point where need additional support with Payroll and onboarding.

You would be based at our head office, which is only a 5\-minute walk from Burton’s town centre.

The salary is £27,000 with continuous professional development.

There is 28 days annual leave, which includes bank holidays, but in addition to the 28 days, you also get to break up from work at 2pm on Christmas eve until the 2nd January

Our approach starts with the key worker, who forms a strong, trusting bond with the child. This relationship is essential for the child’s development and continues throughout their care.

We offer personalized care, education, and treatment led by a team of trained professionals, helping children manage their emotions and behaviours in a safe, supportive environment.

There are currently 6 children’s homes open, 2 of these homes have their own school onsite. Bayleaf is expanding with more children’s homes on the horizon and we are also opening 2 leaving care homes and 3 CQC registered adult homes so that all our young people can remain in our care by transitioning into these services. In September 2026 we are also opening 2 special schools, one for SEMH and the other will be a P/MLD school.

Each children’s home has their own permanent on\-site therapist and a pool car.

The Role

As a Payroll \& Onboarding Administrator at Bayleaf Care, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth and accurate delivery of payroll and onboarding processes. You’ll be responsible for supporting the end\-to\-end payroll cycle and ensuring that our new recruits files are compliant with our very high safer recruitment standards.

Working closely with the HR and Payroll teams, you’ll help ensure compliance, accuracy, and a positive colleague experience, while responding effectively to queries from across the business.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Support the accurate and timely processing of payroll, ensuring all inputs, checks and deadlines are met.

  • Maintain and update employee records across HR and payroll systems, ensuring data accuracy and compliance.

  • Act as a first point of contact for payroll and HR queries, providing clear and professional support to colleagues and managers.

  • Work collaboratively with HR, Finance and wider business teams to support smooth people processes.

  • Work closely with the recruitment team, to ensure that all candidate files are compliant
Skills \& Experience

We’re looking for a Payroll \& HR Administrator who is highly organised, detail\-focused, and comfortable working in a fast\-paced retail environment. Experience using HR and payroll systems, with strong Excel and administrative capability.

Experience of onboarding candidates within a care company environment would be an advantage.
