Pastoral Support / Behaviour Support Staff – Secondary SchoolsSouth Manchester & Stockport | September 2026 Start We are currently recruiting committed and resilient Pastoral Support and Behaviour Support staff to work in secondary schools across South Manchester and Stockport from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people and helping students overcome barriers to learning, behaviour, attendance, and engagement.
The Role As a Pastoral or Behaviour Support member of staff within a secondary school, you will:
- Support students with behavioural, emotional, and social needs across KS3 and KS4
- Work closely with Heads of Year, safeguarding teams, SENCOs, and teaching staff
- Deliver one-to-one mentoring and small-group intervention sessions
- Support students who may be at risk of exclusion, poor attendance, or disengagement from education
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and wellbeing
- Help maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive school environment
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Confidence managing challenging behaviour in a professional manner
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed
- Pastoral support within schools
- Behaviour mentoring or inclusion teams
- Youth work or youth offending services
- Sports coaching
- Residential or support work
- SEMH or SEND support roles
- Ability to provide references covering the last two years
- Right to work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
