• Driving Requirement: Full UK driving licence essential. Candidates must be confident driving school vehicles.

Reed Education is working in partnership with a highly regarded specialist school in Hampshire to recruit a Bespoke Pastoral Support Practitioner for a unique and rewarding full-time role.

This position is not a traditional classroom-based role. You will work with a small number of pupils who are currently unable to access a school environment due to their social, emotional and behavioural needs. These pupils access bespoke off-site programmes five days per week, meaning you will spend your working day supporting them in the community, building positive relationships, managing behaviours, and helping them engage in meaningful educational and personal development activities.

Our partner school is a specialist setting that supports pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), communication difficulties, and associated challenging behaviours. The school has developed a strong reputation for delivering personalised education within a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where every pupil is valued as an individual.

In its most recent inspection, Ofsted recognised the school as a welcoming and inclusive setting where strong relationships underpin the school's success. Inspectors highlighted the school's ambitious curriculum, effective support for pupils with previously disrupted educational journeys, and staff's ability to understand and respond to individual needs.

You will:

• Build meaningful and trusting relationships with pupils.


• Support pupils during off-site educational and enrichment activities.


• Use de-escalation and behaviour management strategies effectively.


• Think creatively and "outside the box" to maintain engagement.


• Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, resilience and social skills.


• Act as a positive role model and trusted adult.


• Work closely with school staff to ensure pupils make progress towards agreed outcomes.


• Safely drive school vehicles to and from off-site locations.

The most important requirement is proven experience engaging children and young people with challenging behaviour.
