We are looking for a Paraplanner to join our financial planning team. We welcome applications from experienced paraplanners and candidates looking to progress into paraplanning from a financial planning administration or similar technical support role.
This role is based at our Holmes Chapel office, with flexible working arrangements available subject to training requirements, business needs and the responsibilities of the role.
The role
This is primarily a non\-client\-facing position. You will support advisers with research, analysis, suitability reports and client reviews. Our work includes pensions, investments and a significant number of Personal Injury Trust cases.
The position can be shaped around the successful candidate's experience. An established paraplanner will manage cases with limited supervision. A developing paraplanner will receive structured support, with responsibilities increasing as technical knowledge and competence develop.
The role does not involve responsibility for providing regulated financial advice. Attendance at client meetings may occasionally be required for development or technical support.
Key responsibilities
- Review fact\-finds, valuations and supporting information.
- Identify missing, inconsistent or unclear information.
- Gather information from providers and investment platforms.
- Carry out product, platform, investment and technical research.
- Prepare calculations, comparisons and supporting analysis.
- Draft suitability and recommendation reports for adviser approval.
- Support annual and ad hoc client reviews.
- Assist with Personal Injury Trust and other trust\-related cases.
- Maintain complete client files and clear audit trails.
- Support the implementation of approved recommendations.
- Liaise with providers, platforms, trustees and professional third parties.
- Manage allocated cases and communicate progress effectively.
- Raise technical, suitability or compliance concerns where appropriate.
- Keep technical knowledge and professional qualifications up to date.
- Contribute to improvements in templates, processes and working practices.
- Experience within a UK financial planning, financial services or related professional environment.
- A genuine interest in developing or continuing a career in paraplanning.
- Strong written and numerical skills.
- High attention to detail and a methodical, organised approach.
- The ability to review information critically and identify gaps.
- Clear and professional communication skills.
- The ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and learning new systems.
- A willingness to undertake continued professional study and development.

- Financial planning administrators or technical support staff looking to progress into paraplanning.
- Candidates studying towards the Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning.
- Candidates willing to begin professional study and develop their technical knowledge.
Desirable experience
- Annual or periodic client reviews.
- Pension and investment planning.
- Personal Injury Trusts or other trust\-based planning.
- Investment platforms and provider systems.
- Cashflow modelling or financial planning software.
- Working with trustees, solicitors, deputies or other professional contacts.
- Salary of £30,000 \- £40,000, depending on experience, qualifications and capability.
