Keolis Amey Metrolink are looking for a Track Maintenance Manager (Permanent Way / P\-Way) who is passionate about safety, leadership and continuous improvement, to help us deliver reliable and high\-quality activities across the metrolink infrastructure.

The Track Maintenance Manager (Permanent Way / P—Way) is both a business and safety critical position where the goal is to drive operational excellence, lead a high performing Infrastructure team, shape maintenance strategies whilst ensuring safety is at the heart of everything we do.

The Track Maintenance Manager (Permanent Way / P\-Way) will play a pivotal role in supporting the business operational delivery, long\-term asset strategy, ensuring governance and compliance across engineering and maintenance systems, asset safety performance, and engineering change.

Adhering to operational standards, the Track Maintenance Manager (Permanent Way / P\-Way), ultimately manage the day\-today running of track maintenance operations, ensure effective on\-going maintenance and support with upgrades and renewals of track systems.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Ensure compliance with industry safety and operational standards, specifications and procedures

  • Provide technical advice and recommendations for corrective actions to address track and infrastructure defects to ensure safety and reliability

  • Daily, weekly, period and annual reporting of all key asset performance metrics including Availability, Reliability, Service Affecting Failures, Repeat Faults and Asset Safety incidents

  • Management of the functional risk profile and implementing risk mitigation strategy

  • Carry out and support with surveying, geometry design, and stress calculations

  • Development of maintenance strategies, which incorporate continual analysis of track condition and trends taking into consideration new methods and innovation within the industry

  • Support project delivery to time and cost targets while collaborating across disciplines

  • Respond and allocate relevant resources to emergencies and provide assistance as needed

  • Advocate and lead on innovation and develop ideas into real\-world engineering solutions.

  • Influence, negotiate, and communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation to deliver safe, efficient, and best practice maintenance outcomes in complex and challenging environments
What you’ll bring:
  • Degree in Engineering (Civil / Track) or equivalent experience, ideally, Chartered Engineer (CEng) status to act as an engineering/design authority.

  • Extensive experience in a large engineering and operational delivery environment with a focus on systems engineering or track maintenance

  • Strong knowledge, experience and understanding of risk and safety in the workplace, within a transport environment and from a track maintenance perspective.

  • Proven ability to understand, review, revise and approve complex engineering designs, reports, recommendations, investigations that may have significant impact to the safe and effective operation of a public transport system.

  • Experience in financial and budget management, alongside delivering engineering activities using best practice and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Ability to develop specialised technical reports considering sensitive information and utilising analytical methods.

  • In\-depth knowledge of track maintenance, including leading complex engineering root cause investigations and applying relevant legislation, standards and innovation to deliver practical maintenance solutions with internal functions as well as external parties.

  • Driving Licence is essential and must be maintained, if successful.
