Working hours: 40 hours per week as a visitor attraction this includes weekends and bank holidays
Salary: £30,160\.00
We are looking for an experienced leader who thrives in a fast\-paced environment, enjoys making decisions and leads from the front.
At Bristol Aquarium, no two days are ever the same. One moment you could be supporting the catering team through a busy lunchtime, the next you are working with the Events Manager on the launch of a new event, reviewing commercial performance with department managers, or walking the attraction to ensure every guest enjoys an exceptional day out.
A key part of your role will be developing the catering operation. You’ll work closely with our Catering Supervisor to improve the offer, drive sales, maintain excellent food safety standards, and continue growing what is an exciting area of the business.
You’ll also support our Events, Visitor services and Retail Managers, helping them achieve their objectives, remove obstacles and maximise commercial opportunities.
Most importantly you’ll be a visible leader. You’ll spend time on the floor supporting your teams, engaging with visitors and ensuring high standards are maintained across every department.
Duties/ Responsibilities
- Maintain a visible management presence across the site, supporting teams, and ensuring excellent visitor experiences, resolving guest concerns as they arise.
- Participate in and manage the Duty Management function, ensuring consistent operational standards across the attraction for daytime and evening operations.
- Ensure compliance with Health \& Safety requirements, conduct risk assessments, and manage emergency response plans.
- Provide clear direction and line management to departmental heads translating strategic goals, into clear actionable departmental goals. Identify opportunities to increase secondary spends and secondary revenue streams.
- Drive the continued development of the café offer, ensuring it remains competitive, commercially attractive and relevant to visitors.
- Ensure the department follows the Company’s food safety, allergen management and hygiene standards.
- Support the General Manager in ensuring the site is secure, repairs are carried out on a timely basis, the attraction is clean, safe and maintained to the highest standards.

Essential:
- Proven management experience within a hospitality, leisure, tourism, retail or visitor attractions.
- Strong commercial awareness, with a track record of improving business performance.
- Experience in leading operational teams.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Confident decision\-maker who remains calm under pressure.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Experience managing catering or food service operations.
- Good understanding of food safety legislation.
- Comfortable working operationally in a fast\-paced environment.
- Multi\-site or visitor attraction experience
- IOSH Managing Safely qualification
- Level 3 food safety qualification
- First aid qualified.
