Operations Manager – Passive Fire Protection

We are recruiting for an Operations Manager to join a busy passive fire protection contractor based in Rochester. This contractor is growing rapidly (£25m T/O this year, £40m T/O next year) and they work for local authorities, the health sector and main contractors installing and maintaining passive fire protection.

This is a fast\-paced, high\-pressure role and is ideally suited to someone who thrives on being busy, can juggle multiple priorities and remains calm and organised when things don’t go to plan.

Reporting directly to the Owner/Director, you will take responsibility for the day\-to\-day running of the operational side of the business, ensuring projects are properly resourced, coordinated and delivered.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

• Managing multiple projects and site teams simultaneously


• Planning labour, materials and subcontractors


• Keeping projects on programme and dealing with issues as they arise


• Managing and supporting contracts managers, supervisors and site operatives


• Liaising with clients, main contractors and suppliers


• Monitoring productivity, quality and costs


• Resolving problems quickly and effectively


• Ensuring health \& safety and quality standards are maintained


• Reporting directly to the Owner/Director on operational performance

We’re looking for someone who is resilient, organised and highly capable under pressure.

You’ll need to be comfortable dealing with a constantly changing workload, competing demands and the inevitable challenges that come with running multiple live construction projects.

Ideally, you will have experience in passive fire protection, fire stopping, construction or a related sector, with proven experience managing people, projects and resources.

Most importantly, you need to be someone who takes ownership, gets things done and doesn’t buckle when the pressure comes on.
