London Fire Brigade (LFB) is London’s fire and rescue service – one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world. We are here to make London a safer city. Employing over 5000 people across our operational team (our firefighters), control (our call handlers who answer 999 calls), fire safety and our non\-operational team (our team who work behind the scenes to support our front\-line services, which includes Fleet, IT, HR, Finance, Procurement, Communications team and many more).

A vacancy has arisen for an Administrative Officer in Operational Resilience. Reporting to the Project Manager you will be responsible for providing day\-to\-day administrative support to the Operational Resilience department. This includes supporting internal projects and national programs, ensuring compliance with data protection guidelines, and utilising information technology applications effectively. The position requires strong organisational and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality and work within the policies of the Brigade and the legal requirements of the Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act. We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Administration Officer to join our Preparedness and Response Directorate. This is a key role providing high\-quality administrative support to the Operational Resilience team. You will play an important part in supporting operational planning and resilience by supporting meetings and governance processes, preparing reports and presentations, preparing invoices and ensuring the efficient running of department systems and programmes.

The successful candidate must have excellent workload management and ensure that they can appropriately prioritise their workload according to what projects and tasks require their attention. They must ensure that they provide an effective and efficient administrative support to the management team in Operational Resilience.

The role is exposed to sensitive material, necessitating the holder of Security Clearance or the ability to secure it prior to commencing the role.

Stage 1

1\. Experience of providing an effective and efficient administrative service to senior management.

2\. Good written and oral communication skills in order to draft both routine and more complex correspondence, and to liaise effectively with staff at all levels.

3\. Good organisational skills in order to manage and prioritise workloads and to ensure deadlines are met.

4\. An understanding of the need to maintain appropriate confidentiality within the policies of the Brigade and the legal requirements of the Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act.

Criminal records check

In line with the Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) employment checks will be completed by successful candidates, which will include a Standard criminal records check. Successful candidate will be required to declare any convictions for offences and any offer of employment is subject to the LFC receiving a criminal records disclosure which it considers satisfactory.
