Operational and Learning Centre Manager
About us
Arcus education is opening a new Alternative Provision in the Former Calverley Library for neurodivergent learners. We are engaging in a *CV collecting exercise for potential candidates*, whilst we await the confirmation of our opening date.
Purpose of the Role
The Centre Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership for the learning centre, ensuring the highest standards of education, safeguarding, quality assurance and learner support.
The successful candidate will lead the development of an inclusive, high\-performing learning environment, ensuring that all statutory responsibilities are met while driving outstanding educational outcomes and maintaining excellent relationships with local authorities, commissioners, parents, carers, awarding organisations and external agencies.
The Centre Manager will be responsible for the overall effectiveness, financial sustainability and regulatory compliance of the learning centre.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Provide motivating leadership that promotes an inclusive, trauma\-informed and neuro\-affirming learning centre
- Develop and implement the centre's strategic vision and improvement plan
- Lead the centre through its establishment and ongoing development, in line with Key Stakeholders vision
- Ensure continuous assessment and improvement across all aspects of provision
- Promote evidence\-informed practice throughout the organisation
- Oversee the day\-to\-day management of the learning centre and premises
- Develop operational systems and procedures, in line with Stakeholder KPIs
- Manage staffing, timetabling and resource procurement and allocation across the learning centre, ensuring adherence to appropriate staffing levels and Safer Recruitment guidance
- Oversee learner placement enquiries and admissions, in consultation with the SENDCo
- Build and maintain relationships with commissioning local authorities, schools and families
- Report to key stakeholders on placement numbers, student attainment, student attendance and other KPIs
- Develop and manage budgets effectively across the whole learning centre, assessing and ensuring value for money across all operational activities
- Oversee procurement and resource management
- Monitor expenditure and financial performance, and report to key stakeholders
- Manage staff payroll and expenses submissions
- Promote a strong safeguarding culture across the organisation.
- Ensure compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education and safeguarding legislation
- Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and SENDCo
- Champion equality, diversity and inclusion
- Promote trauma\-informed and restorative approaches
- Monitor, recruit, develop and retain high\-quality staff in line with Safer Recruitment guidelines and KCSIE
- Conduct performance management and appraisal processes with direct reports
- Manage formal HR processes, including investigations, disciplinary procedures, grievance hearings, capability processes, sickness absence management and performance management, whilst promoting staff well\-being
- Work collaboratively with the organisation's HR advisers and senior leadership to manage complex employee relations cases and minimise organisational risk
- Identify professional development needs
- Build a positive, collaborative and accountable team culture
- Develop productive relationships with Local Authorities and commissioning bodies
- Build strong partnerships with schools, colleges, employers and community organisations
- Maintain positive communication with parents and carers
- Represent the learning centre at professional meetings and networking events
- Promote the reputation of the organisation within the local community
- Degree or equivalent professional qualification
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS or equivalent
- A recognised leadership qualification (or substantial leadership experience)
- A Level 3 safeguarding qualification
- Evidence of continuing professional development in SEND and other areas
- Significant senior leadership experience, preferably within an Alternative Provision
- Proven experience managing educational teams and multidisciplinary staff
- Experience leading quality improvement initiatives
- Experience managing and reporting safeguarding within an educational setting
- Experience working with learners with SEND, SEMH and other additional needs
- Experience managing budgets and operational resources
- Experience working collaboratively with Local Authorities, commissioners and external agencies
- Experience leading organisational change and service development
The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of:
- Alternative Provision legislation and guidance
- SEND legislation, SEND Code of Practice, KCSIE and Safer Recruitment
- Safeguarding and child protection
- Trauma\-informed educational practice
- Educational leadership and change management
- Health and Safety legislation
- Employment law and people management

Pay: £27,000\.00\-£35,000\.00 per year
