Nursery Practitioners

Our wonderful children are looking for fun, energetic practitioners who would love to join in with our messy play, outdoor adventures and cosy story times. We are so excited to show you our lovely learning spaces, which are always filled with laughter, singing and dancing!
This is a fantastic opportunity to join our fabulous, family\-focused team in our lovely little nursery, set within the beautiful grounds of The Firs Independent School in Chester.
We are currently recruiting for two full\-time Nursery Practitioners:
1\. Under 2's Nursery Practitioner
You will work alongside our experienced Room Leaders in our Willows and Saplings rooms, supporting our babies and youngest children. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys building close, nurturing relationships with children and their families during these important early years.
Hours:
- 40 hours per week 7\.45am to 6\.15pm
- Normally worked over 4 days, Monday to Friday
- 51 weeks per year
This varied role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children of all ages. You will provide support across all rooms, covering staff holidays, days off and absences, helping to maintain consistency and high\-quality care throughout the nursery.
Hours:
- 8\.30am – 5\.00pm
- 5 days per week, Monday to Friday
- 51 weeks per year
About You
Applicants must hold a minimum Level 2 Early Years qualification (Level 3 preferred). Up\-to\-date Paediatric First Aid, Child Protection and Food Hygiene certificates would be advantageous.
For the Under 2's Practitioner role, experience working with babies and toddlers is desirable but not essential if you are enthusiastic, caring and keen to learn.
For the Nursery Practitioner role, confidence in adapting to different age groups and working flexibly across the nursery would be beneficial.

*Job Role*
Purpose of Post
- To ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children in their care.
- To have specific training/knowledge of working with toddlers and children of two years old in order to support their individual needs.
- To give support to other team members within their immediate room and the wider nursery.
- To work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, learn and develop.
- To use specific training/knowledge of working with toddlers and children over two years old to support all children’s individual needs.
- To support the team members to have the specific knowledge and skills required to work effectively with children of this age.
- Formulate and operate a programme of activities that meet the individual needs and interests of children in your area in conjunction with other team members and the Manager
- To keep records of your key children’s development and learning journeys, share this with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life.
- Support all team members with the early identification and intervention for children with possible special needs and give physical, emotional, intellectual guidance as appropriate.
- Undertake appropriate supervision meetings/processes.
- Feed into appraisals, target and nursery operations as deemed appropriate by the Manager
- Support new team members through inductions in partnership with the Manager
- Ensure all record keeping is accurate and up\-to\-date within your designated area, including learning journeys of all children in your room, sleep charts, accident forms, daily record sheets and any other forms/records required for the child’s welfare, learning and development.
- Ensure room checks and outdoor checks are conducted in line with nursery procedures.
- Liaise with and support parents and other family members
- Liaise with the local authority and other professionals associated with the nursery
- To be involved in out of working hours activities e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, parents evening, fundraising events etc.
- Undertake certain domestic jobs within the nursery, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment and such other duties and responsibilities of equivalent nature as may be determined from time to time by the Manager
- Read, understand and adhere to all policies relevant to your role as deemed appropriate by the Manger. Support team members to do the same and ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
- To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times and be responsible for the health and safety standards appropriate to the needs of young children.
- Ensure someone known and agreed by the nursery and parent collects each child
- To support and facilitate the preparation and completion of activities to suit each individual child’s stage of development and interests
- To ensure that mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing
- Changing children as required
- To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communications with parents/carers to facilitate day\-to\-day caring and early learning needs
- To ensure the provision of a high\-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children regardless of any disabilities, family backgrounds or medical history
- To be aware of the high profile of the nursery and ensure all staff uphold its standards at all times, both within work hours and outside.
Pay: Up to £26,624\.00 per year
