About the Role – Deputy Manager Cheltenham
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the setting, ensuring high standards of care, education, and safeguarding are consistently delivered.
You will play a key role in leading the team, inspiring best practice, and creating a positive, nurturing environment where both children and staff can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Nursery Manager with daily operations and leadership
- Lead, motivate, and inspire a team of Early Years Practitioners
- Support the delivery of the EYFS curriculum to a high standard
- Act as a role model of outstanding practice within the setting
- Assist with staff development, coaching, and mentoring
- Ensure safeguarding, health & safety, and compliance are always met
- Build positive relationships with parents, carers, and the wider community
- Step into the Manager role when required
- Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Early Years / Childcare
- Strong experience within an EYFS nursery setting
- Proven leadership potential or experience (Room Leaders welcome)
- Confident decision-making and problem-solving abilities
- A proactive, organised, and positive approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine passion for leading teams and supporting children’s development
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- Motivational and supportive leadership style
- Ability to inspire and develop a team
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Confidence in taking initiative and leading by example
- Commitment to maintaining high standards and continuous improvement
