Bloxham School is seeking to appoint a qualified and compassionate nurse to join our dedicated medical team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse who enjoys working with young people and would like to contribute to the health, wellbeing and safety of our school community within a supportive and professional environment.

The successful candidate will provide responsive and high\-quality medical care to pupils who become unwell or sustain an injury while at school. Working independently within their level of competence, the successful candidate will work closely with the wider nursing team, House staff, parents and other healthcare professionals to ensure that the needs of pupils remain at the centre of all decision\-making.

Rate of Pay:

· £27\.71 per hour

Working Arrangements:

· Zero Hours casual contract.

· Hours offered according to the needs of the School and availability of the successful candidate.

· On\-site working.

· Term time only, 34 weeks per year

About the Role

You will contribute to the effective provision of healthcare through Palmer Health Centre, providing professional and compassionate care to members of the Bloxham School community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing and responding to pupils and members of the school community who require medical intervention due to illness, injury or concerns about their health and wellbeing.

  • Undertaking thorough assessments of accidents and injuries, providing appropriate treatment or referral where necessary.

  • Communicating effectively with Housemasters/Housemistresses, Matrons, parents and colleagues regarding pupils' health and care needs.

  • Providing health education, information and resources to pupils, parents and staff where appropriate.

  • Maintaining accurate and timely paper and electronic medical records.

  • Working collaboratively with the nursing team to ensure effective handovers and continuity of care.

  • Practicing in accordance with the NMC Code, relevant professional guidance and School policies and procedures.

  • Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to GDPR, data protection and information\-sharing requirements.

  • Recognising and reporting safeguarding concerns in accordance with School and Local Authority procedures.

  • Participating in mandatory training, professional development and Palmer Health Centre training and meetings as required.

  • Contributing positively to the wider work and development of the Medical Department.
About the Medical Team

The Medical Team at Bloxham School is dedicated to supporting the health and wellbeing of the entire school community. The team provides professional medical care, support and ongoing health education, working closely with a local GP practice to ensure students have access to a wide range of medical services and expert care.

The team aims to create a safe and healthy environment where students can thrive, promoting both physical and mental wellbeing through attentive, responsive and professional healthcare.

About You

We are looking for a qualified nurse who is calm, caring and professional, with the ability to respond confidently to a wide range of health needs while working as part of a supportive team.

*Essential:*

  • Qualified Nurse with current NMC registration.

  • First Aid qualifications.

  • Experience working as a School Nurse or in an Occupational Health setting.

  • Ability to work independently and within the limits of professional competence.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office/365\.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A flexible approach to work.

  • A calm, caring and compassionate attitude.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
You will also be committed to maintaining high professional standards, undertaking continuing professional development and working collaboratively with colleagues for the benefit of pupils. The ability to build effective and appropriate relationships with pupils, staff, teachers, co\-workers and parents will be essential to the role.
