Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Night Carer to provide exceptional care and support during overnight hours 8pm\-8am. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and well\-being of residents at Oakwood. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those requiring assistance during the night. The successful applicant will possess strong communication skills, IT proficiency, and a caring attitude, with the ability to follow care plans meticulously.
Responsibilities
- Monitor residents’ health and safety throughout the night, responding promptly to any emergencies or needs
- Assist residents with personal care tasks such as toileting, mobility, and medication administration as outlined in care plans
- Maintain accurate records of residents’ conditions and any incidents that occur during your shift
- Ensure a safe and comfortable environment by checking that all areas are secure and clean
- Communicate effectively with day staff regarding residents’ status and any concerns encountered during the night
- Support residents’ emotional well\-being through attentive listening and companionship
- Drive residents to appointments or outings if required, ensuring safe transportation at all times
- Follow all health and safety protocols diligently, including infection control procedures
- Previous experience working in a care home or providing home care is desirable but not essential; training will be provided
- Valid driving licence is preferred for roles involving transportation responsibilities
- DBS
- Good command of English, both spoken and written, to communicate effectively with residents and team members
- Basic IT skills for maintaining accurate records and updating care plans electronically
- Excellent communication skills with a caring and empathetic approach towards residents
- Ability to work independently during night shifts while maintaining high standards of care
- Flexibility to work overnight hours as required; previous experience in night shifts is advantageous but not mandatory
