The post holder has professional and managerial responsibility for a case load of patients from age 16 presenting to the Minor Injuries Unit with acute minor injuries.

They are responsible for the assessment of care needs and the delivery and maintenance of optimal care outcomes. Working collaboratively with the patient and multidisciplinary team and utilising evidence based practice and specialist clinical knowledge to inform decision making and clinical judgment.

The post holder is expected to motivate staff to provide the highest standards of care by acting as a role model.

To provide specialist advice, education and training to staff from the Emergency Department, wider NHS Lothian services and across healthcare boundaries including Doctors, Nurses and AHPs.

To promote excellence in management of Minor Injuries by supporting the development of the service, implementing and evaluating evidence based standards, guidelines and policies,

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
