We are seeking an experienced New Build Roofing Estimator to strengthen our commercial and estimating team.

Role Overview

The New Build Roofing Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and commercially viable estimates for roofing packages within the new build sector. This includes labour, materials, plant, subcontractor costs, programme awareness, and commercial risk assessment.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of new build roofing systems, pitched roofing products, flat roofing systems, construction sequencing, and developer\-led projects. Alongside strong technical and commercial ability, they should be comfortable working within a forward\-thinking and innovation\-led business that is investing in software development, AI\-driven processes, drone technology, and smarter digital systems to improve estimating, reporting, and operational efficiency. A proactive mindset and willingness to embrace continuous improvement and modern ways of working are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Review tender enquiries, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.


• Produce detailed take\-offs, BOQs, and full cost estimates.


• Price labour, materials, subcontractor works, prelims, plant, and overheads.


• Liaise with suppliers, merchants, and manufacturers to obtain best\-value quotations.


• Assess commercial risk, programme impact, and profitability.


• Work closely with Contracts Managers and Operations Managers during pre\-start planning.


• Support value engineering opportunities.


• Ensure estimates align with company margin expectations.


• Maintain tender follow\-up and client communication.


• Assist in handovers to operational teams.

• 3–5\+ years estimating experience within roofing or construction.


• Strong knowledge of new build pitched roofing, flat roofing, and developer\-led projects.


• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.


• Experience using estimating software such as Swift S, Excel, or similar.


• Strong commercial awareness.


• Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship skills.


• Valid UK driving licence.

• Experience with national house builders or principal contractors.


• Understanding of roofing manufacturers.


• Knowledge of procurement sequencing and site programme planning.
