Job Title – Loading Systems Engineer
Pickerings Lifts is a national, well established, privately owned, independent, leading Industry specialist with 170 years’ experience.
We require a Loading Systems / Industrial Door Engineer to carry out servicing, callouts and repairs on loading bay and industrial access equipment covering Loading Systems North Region.
The purpose of the role is to deliver safe, reliable service, repair and installation of loading systems equipment across customer sites. The role ensures compliance with safety standards, accurate fault diagnosis, and high\-quality workmanship, while supporting customer relationships and contractual performance through effective technical expertise, flexibility and regional coverage delivery.
Main Duties:
- Service, Repair \& Installation: Carry out the service, repair, and installation of Loading Systems equipment, including sectional doors, roller shutters, high‑speed doors, dock levellers, scissor lifts, load houses, vehicle restraints, control panels, dock seals and shelters, traffic light systems, wheel guides, buffers, and associated ancillary equipment.
- Mechanical, Electrical \& Hydraulic Work: Complete electrical, hydraulic, and fabrication works to a high professional standard, ensuring equipment is safe, reliable, and fully operational.
- Fault Diagnosis: Accurately diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults using technical knowledge, fault\-finding techniques, and engineering best practice.
- Independent \& Team Working: Work effectively both independently and as part of a team to deliver contracted works efficiently and professionally.
- Technical Documentation: Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals to support installation, repair, and diagnostic activities.
- Customer Liaison: Liaise directly with customers on site, providing clear technical advice, usage guidance, and recommendations for repairs, upgrades, or replacements where appropriate.
- Health \& Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is carried out in strict accordance with health and safety legislation, company policies, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
- Site Surveys: Carry out occasional site surveys to support the office with technical information, scopes of work, and planning.
- Regional Travel \& Working Away: Work across the Northern region, including staying away from home as required to support national operational demands.
- Callout Responsibilities: Participate in the callout rota, providing responsive out\-of\-hours support in line with business requirements.
- Loading Systems Experience: Proven background in Loading Systems, with experience in service, repair, installation, and modernisation works.
- Technical Qualifications: Electrical qualifications are preferred; welding qualifications are desirable.
- Professional Certifications: Holds or is willing to maintain relevant certifications such as CSCS, NVQ, IPAF, PASMA, and forklift truck licences.
- Health \& Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of health and safety standards, risk assessment processes, and safe working practices.
- Problem\-Solving Skills: Demonstrates strong fault\-finding and problem\-solving abilities across mechanical and electrical systems.
- Workmanship \& Standards: Self\-motivated with a strong pride in workmanship and the ability to consistently deliver work to a high standard.
- Customer Focus: Able to build positive working relationships with customers through professional communication and a solutions\-focused approach.
- Driving Licence: Holds a full, valid UK driving licence; a company vehicle will be provided.
- Flexibility \& Development: Willing to travel, stay away when required, and undertake further training to support personal development and business growth.
