The Hereford operation is the major UK production facility in PCC Metals \& Forgings Group and we now have an exciting/ challenging opportunity for a Multi\-Skilled Engineer (Mech/Elec) to join the Special Metals Wiggin (SMW) Engineering team.
Purpose of the Role:
To provide engineering support within the team and the wider business, ensuring planned maintenance and equipment failure issues are completed consistently and in a timely manner.
Essential Functions:
- Carry out fault diagnosis of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems and provide rapid response to breakdown situations within the Maintained Areas.
- Execute planned preventative maintenance tasks according to the plant schedule.
- Undertake Engineering Planned Maintenance activities within the Department.
- Ensuring adherence to the CMMS requirements is mandatory so the company has a record of breakdown occurrence / time for the justification of improvement projects.
- Ensure an effective face to face shift handover where there is a follow\-on shift.
- Ensure that safe working conditions are always maintained in conjunction with company 6’s and Risk Assessment policies both in associated Areas and Responsible plant equipment.
- Adopt and pursue a working style that will continually improve and enhance work practices within allocated area.
- Assist with the improvement methods of reducing plant downtime and increasing plant efficiencies within the areas of responsibility, using modern improvement techniques/updates.
- Carry out Health and Safety (6s) improvements within the areas as directed by the Engineering Team leader.
- Ensure that all engineering plant areas are correctly serviced, maintained and calibrated.
- Assist in the development and skills training of the Apprentices allocated to the Team.
- Be flexible within departments to assist others where extra Resource/Knowledge may be required.
- Served a recognized apprenticeship or HNC maintenance/manufacturing engineering qualification or similar.
- Able to communicate, persuade and influence effectively at all levels.
