Modern Slavery Support Worker

A rewarding opportunity for an experienced support professional to provide trauma-informed support, advocacy, case management, risk assessment and safeguarding support to adults and children affected by modern slavery and human trafficking.

SALARY: £25,287 - £27,993 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Travel required across the West Midlands area

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37.5 hours, Monday – Friday (9am – 5pm)

Please note: Full driving licence with access to a vehicle and willingness to travel across sites is essential

JOB OVERVIEW

The organisation provides specialist accommodation and community support to people affected by abuse, exploitation, modern slavery and human trafficking.

As a Modern Slavery Support Worker you will provide high-quality frontline support to female and male victims and their children, helping clients access practical, emotional and specialist services during their recovery and reflection period.

The Modern Slavery Support Worker will manage complex casework, completing risk and needs assessments, support planning, case reviews and safeguarding work while building effective relationships with clients and partner agencies.

This is a challenging and meaningful opportunity for a resilient, compassionate and proactive Modern Slavery Support Worker who can work independently, manage competing demands and support people facing significant barriers.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Modern Slavery Support Worker include:

  • Client Support: Provide emotional, practical and advocacy support to victims of modern slavery and human trafficking, promoting safety, independence and recovery

  • Assessment and Case Management: Complete risk and needs assessments, support planning and case reviews while managing an effective client caseload

  • Safeguarding: Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns involving vulnerable adults and children

  • NRM and Client Rights: Support clients through the National Referral Mechanism process and provide information about their rights and entitlements

  • Partnership Working: Refer clients to relevant services and work collaboratively with external agencies to address complex needs and improve outcomes

  • Records and Professional Practice: Maintain accurate case records, professional boundaries and safe working practices in line with policies, legislation and performance requirements

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Relevant Level 3 or equivalent qualification, Level 2 considered

  • Experience supporting vulnerable adults and children, with a strong understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed, client-centred practice

  • Experience working with vulnerable people, including those affected by homelessness or destitution, and building effective partnerships with other agencies

  • Knowledge of modern slavery and human trafficking, risk management, the National Referral Mechanism and relevant safeguarding and support frameworks

  • Strong communication, advocacy and relationship-building skills, with the ability to manage a caseload, prioritise competing demands and work effectively under pressure

  • Full driving licence with access to a vehicle and willingness to travel across sites

  • Eligibility to work in the UK

DESIRABLE
  • Experience of needs-led support planning, complex casework or working to contractual performance targets

  • Understanding of complex needs linked to exploitation, mental health, substance misuse, domestic abuse or other forms of trauma

  • Knowledge of public funds, entitlements, homelessness, asylum or issues affecting vulnerable client groups

  • Knowledge of the Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy, motivational interviewing or evidence-based engagement techniques

  • Current driving licence and access to a vehicle

  • Willingness to work unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends when required
