Mentor – In Work Support

Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council – Work and Skills Team

Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council’s Work and Skills Team is seeking a dedicated and motivated In Work Support Mentor to join our delivery team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by supporting individuals with pre\-employability and engagement needs to move closer to the labour market.

About the Role

As an In Work Support Mentor, you will provide tailored one\-to\-one mentoring support to individuals experiencing In\-Work poverty, helping them to identify and take practical steps to upskill and overcome barriers in the workplace that prevent opportunities for progression. Working in a person\-centred and solution\-focused way, you will help participants progress along an agreed pathway of support, either within the Work and Skills Team or through effective use of external partner organisations.

You will be responsible for:

  • Delivering high\-quality, one\-to\-one mentoring support

  • Supporting individuals to identify goals, overcome barriers, and build confidence

  • Enabling progression to support participants to sustain employment, as well as progression whilst in work.

  • Maintaining accurate and timely records of interventions, progress, and outcomes

  • Collecting evidence to demonstrate individual achievements and programme impact
About You

You will have:

  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by individuals that are employed

  • Experience of engaging with individuals on a one \- one basis

  • A compassionate, solution\-focused approach to problem\-solving

  • The ability to build trusted relationships and motivate individuals towards positive change
This post is fixed term until 31st March 2027\.
