Mental Health Support Worker

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Support Worker to provide high\-quality support to individuals with mental health needs. The successful candidate will work closely with clients, including children and adults, to promote well\-being, independence, and positive behavioural outcomes. This role involves delivering personalised care in a respectful and empathetic manner, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all service users.

Duties

• Assist clients with daily activities, including personal care and medication administration as required


• Implement behaviour management strategies, including applied behaviour analysis techniques, to support behavioural improvements


• Support individuals with autism and other disabilities through tailored interventions and activities


• Engage clients in therapeutic activities designed to promote social skills, emotional regulation, and independence


• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including special education professionals and healthcare providers


• Monitor and record client progress accurately, maintaining detailed care plans and documentation


• Provide emotional support and reassurance to clients experiencing distress or behavioural challenges


• Ensure a safe environment by adhering to health and safety policies and safeguarding procedures

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or adults with mental health issues or disabilities is desirable


• Knowledge of applied behaviour analysis (ABA) techniques is advantageous


• Prior experience working with individuals with autism or in special education settings is preferred


• Ability to administer medication safely following training and protocols


• Strong communication skills, demonstrating patience, empathy, and active listening abilities


• Relevant qualifications in healthcare, social care, or related fields are beneficial but not essential


• Commitment to ongoing professional development in mental health support practices
