About the Role We are seeking a Mental Health Assistant to work within an educational setting supporting pupils who present with a range of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
These pupils may face challenges such as:
- Anxiety, depression, or low mood
- Trauma-related behaviours
- Emotional regulation difficulties
- Challenging behaviour linked to unmet needs
- Additional learning difficulties or neurodiverse needs
Key Responsibilities • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Promote emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour strategies
- Assist in delivering tailored learning and wellbeing activities
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
- Encourage pupil independence and self-confidence
- Remain calm, consistent, and empathetic in challenging situations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain resilient and adaptable
- Experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, etc.) is desirable
- A proactive and positive attitude

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
