Academics are currently recruiting for a Mental Health Assistant to join a school in Devizes. This rewarding role involves supporting students with a range of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, alongside a range of complex needs, autism and associated learning differences, within a supportive environment.
This opportunity is ideal for graduates or individuals considering future careers in psychology, therapy, counselling, teaching, or youth work who are looking to build meaningful experience working directly with young people.
The Role - Mental Health Assistant - Devizes
- Support students with emotional regulation, wellbeing, and engagement in learning
- Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs
- Assist with behaviour strategies and promote positive coping mechanisms
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Experience supporting SEN, SEMH, or challenging behaviour
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Interest in mental health, SEN, and child development
- Psychology, counselling, education, or related background desirable
- Previous experience with young people or mental health beneficial but not essential
