We are seeking a dedicated Medical Secretary to join our busy practice in the Halifax area. This vital role involves supporting our clinical team by managing administrative tasks efficiently and ensuring smooth daily operations. Hours: 12–16 hours per week
Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience
We are looking for an experienced and highly organised GP Secretary to join our friendly and supportive practice team on a part\-time basis.
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to our GPs, helping to ensure the efficient management of referrals, correspondence, and patient records.
Main Duties
- Processing referrals through the NHS e\-Referral Service (e\-RS).
- Typing and managing clinical correspondence, reports, and referral letters.
- Managing incoming hospital letters and correspondence.
- Maintaining accurate patient records using SystmOne.
- Supporting patients with direct enquiries.
- Monitoring and actioning tasks within SystmOne as directed by clinicians.
- Liaising with hospitals, community services, and other healthcare providers.
- Supporting GPs with day\-to\-day administrative duties.
- Ensuring patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
- Previous experience in a GP practice, primary care, or medical secretary role.
- Good working knowledge of SystmOne.
- Excellent organisational and time\-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Experience using NHS e\-Referral Service (e\-RS).
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Understanding of NHS administrative processes and pathways.
