Medical Receptionist

King Edward Road Surgery currently have a vacancy for Receptionist to join our vibrant and friendly team.

Job Description

This role is heavily telephone based. Reception answer around 200 calls per day as well as making outgoing calls to patients on behalf of the clinicians and administration team. Alongside this, we also process prescriptions, chaperone GP consultations, handle post, register and deduct patients from the patient list and deal with general enquires. You will always be busy, but the days go by quickly and our team are very supportive.

Other duties involve:

· Offer general assistance to the surgery team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors

· Assist and signpost patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way

The successful candidate will have experience of a busy customer facing role in a surgery or similar environment and be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. They will have a calm and helpful attitude and pride themselves on accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to multi\-task and work under pressure. Flexibility is a must as cover is required for holidays and/or sick leave.

Centrally located in Northampton, we are one of Northamptonshire’s leading GP training practices, consisting of 5 partner GPs, 1 salaried GP, 5 Practice Nurses and a support team looking after approximately 12,000 patients. We have always prided ourselves on providing high quality service with excellent results from patient satisfaction surveys.

Hours and pay

19 hours per week.

Monday: Day off

Tuesday: Day off

Wednesday: Day off

Thursday: 07\.45am \- 18\.00pm (9\.25 hours)

Friday: 07\.45am \- 18\.30pm (9\.75 hours)

1 hour unpaid lunch break on each full day

You will be paid at a rate of £12\.71 per hour. The successful candidate will also have access to the NHS pension scheme.

At the moment, we do not offer an extended hours service. However, if we do in the future you may be required to cover these on a rotating basis. These consist of two early mornings, one late evening and a Saturday morning.
