About the Role

Home Care Hire is expanding and seeking a reliable, hands‑on Medical Equipment Engineer to support the delivery, installation, servicing, maintenance, and collection of medical equipment—primarily hospital beds, hoists, and pressure care systems—across the Midlands and North of England.

This is a varied, physical, and customer‑facing role involving:

  • Field service engineering

  • Warehouse operations

  • Equipment cleaning \& decontamination

  • Independent travel

  • Structured technical training
You must be comfortable working independently, managing your own day, and adapting as we scale our operations.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Delivery \& Installation

  • Transport, assemble, install, and disassemble hospital beds and associated medical equipment in private homes.

  • Safely handle individual components weighing up to 30kg.

  • Ensure equipment is set up correctly, safely, and professionally.
Driving \& Logistics
  • Drive to customer locations across the Midlands and North of England.

  • Load/unload equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Maintain a clean, organised vehicle and follow route plans.
Warehouse \& Inventory
  • Manage stock movements at our premises.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records.

  • Assist with general warehouse duties as required.
Cleaning \& Decontamination
  • Clean, sanitise, and prepare equipment to medical‑grade standards.

  • Work in a decontamination chamber for several hours per week (full training provided).
Administration \& Reporting
  • Complete delivery/collection paperwork accurately.

  • Use app‑based software for job updates, checklists, and asset tracking.

  • Maintain clear communication with the office team.
Required Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in medical or mobility equipment (beds, hoists, pressure care, LOLER, repairs, servicing)

  • 7–10 years’ experience in maintenance, mechanical engineering, field service, or similar hands‑on technical work.

  • 3–5 years’ driving experience (clean licence preferred).

  • Strong practical/mechanical aptitude.

  • Good computer literacy (evidence of using app‑based systems).

  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own day.

  • Physically fit and able to lift 30kg components safely.

  • Available to work 10–15 Saturday mornings per year.

  • Customer‑facing experience.

  • Experience working in environments with hygiene or compliance requirements.

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary (£33k–£37,000k) depending on experience)

  • Overtime paid when average hours exceed 40/week over a 4‑week period

  • Saturday overtime paid at 1\.25×

Pay: £33,000\.00\-£37,000\.00 per year
