Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer looking for an opportunity to work on innovative diagnostic technology?
We are working with a rapidly growing technology company developing cutting–edge diagnostic products used within healthcare environments. Due to continued growth and ongoing product development activities, they are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Product Development team.
This is not a manufacturing engineering role. Instead, you will focus on the ongoing enhancement of an existing commercial product, supporting design improvements, product performance, reliability and lifecycle management through a structured design control process.
The Role
Working within a multidisciplinary R\&D team, you will take ownership of design updates and engineering changes, ensuring products continue to evolve and improve following commercial launch.
Key responsibilities include:
- Updating and improving existing product designs using CAD
- Managing engineering changes through formal change control processes
- Conducting physical testing and evaluation activities to support product improvements
- Investigating product issues and supporting root cause analysis activities
- Creating and maintaining engineering documentation, drawings and specifications
- Supporting Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) activities
- Working closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to resolve technical issues
- Supporting verification and validation activities
- Maintaining product documentation in line with quality and regulatory requirements
We are looking for an engineer with experience working within a regulated industry such as medical devices, diagnostics, aerospace or another highly controlled engineering environment.
You will ideally have:
- Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Commercial experience in product design and development
- Strong CAD skills, ideally using SolidWorks
- Experience managing design changes through formal change control processes
- Knowledge of DFMEA and risk management activities
- Experience carrying out product testing and supporting engineering investigations
- Strong documentation and technical report writing skills
- Experience working within a quality management system
- ISO 13485 or FDA–regulated environments
- Medical device, diagnostics or life science products
- Product verification and validation activities
- Design transfer and supplier management
- Root cause analysis methodologies
- PDM systems and configuration management
