Your role is based at our headquarters in Berlin, Germany. The ideal candidate for this role has a background in space technology, structural design and environmental testing for space, is an excellent communicator and team player, and is passionate about being part of a dynamic team that is driving the satellite industry forward.

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with 3 to 5 years of professional experience to join our growing team. In this role, your primary focus will be supporting the EXOtube and Engineering teams through advanced SolidWorks CAD modeling, drafting, and data management. You will act as the critical link between teams at Exolaunch, keeping the CAD workspace maintained and documentation, work instructions and proposals up to date with the latest CAD results.#### Your mission

  • CAD Modeling \& Drafting: Create, modify and optimize complex 3D parts and large assemblies in SolidWorks.

  • Technical Drawings: Produce detailed manufacturing drawings using appropriate GD\&T and established drafting standards.

  • CAD/PDM Management: Maintain engineering data, revisions, workflows and version control within SolidWorks PDM.

  • Design Reviews: Participate actively in design reviews and identify interferences, manufacturability concerns and opportunities for design optimization.

  • Technical Documentation: Keep relevant engineering documentation, work instructions and technical materials aligned with the latest design status.

  • Internal \& Customer Support: Prepare design visualizations, technical data and CAD\-derived materials for internal reviews and customer discussions.

  • Proposal Support: Develop and visualize technical concepts for new spacecraft launch configurations and customer proposals.

Your profile


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design Technology, or an equivalent technical trade background.

  • 3 to 5 years of dedicated mechanical design experience in a product design or manufacturing environment.

  • CAD Expertise: Power\-user proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling, sheet metal, weldments, and complex assemblies). Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) or Certified SolidWorks Expert (CSWE) a plus.

  • PDM Knowledge: Hands\-on experience working within a SolidWorks PDM or similar PLM database environment.

  • Manufacturing Savvy: Solid understanding of core manufacturing methods like machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, or 3D printing.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to team managers and non\-technical stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and spoken English, especially in a technical environment. Written and spoken German is a plus.

  • Strong visual and design judgement, with the ability to create clear, consistent technical documentation and consider both functional and aesthetic aspects of hardware design.

  • Collaborative, hands\-on approach and ability to work effectively in a fast\-paced environment
Nice to have
  • Experience in aerospace, space hardware or another highly regulated engineering environment.

  • Experience with spacecraft structures, mechanical integration or environmental testing.

Location Requirement

This role is based in Berlin. Candidates must either currently reside in Berlin or be open to relocating.
