Maternity Nurse (Night)
Night Nurse – Private Family
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate and highly reliable Night Nurse with NHS and/or substantial clinical medical experience to provide overnight care for a baby within the family home.
The role is for 3 months , and the applicant must be willing to travel in December to Morroco with the family (15th \- 27th) all expenses will be covered by the family.
This is a clinical\-experience\-required position and is not suitable for candidates whose experience is solely as a nanny or maternity nurse.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide attentive and safe overnight care for the baby.
- Monitor the baby throughout the night and respond promptly to any changes or concerns.
- Administer feeds and follow the baby’s established feeding routine.
- Wind, settle and comfort the baby as required.
- Change nappies and clothing when necessary.
- Follow any care plans and instructions provided by the parents and relevant healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate overnight records, including feeds, sleep, nappies and relevant observations.
- Recognise signs of respiratory distress, deterioration or illness and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Maintain excellent infection\-control and hygiene standards.
- Prepare, clean and sterilise feeding equipment as required.
- Maintain a safe sleeping environment in accordance with current guidance.
- Provide a detailed verbal and/or written handover to the parents each morning.
- Maintain complete confidentiality and respect the privacy of the family.
Candidates must have:
- Previous NHS experience and/or substantial professional clinical experience.
- A healthcare background with experience caring for babies, infants or children.
- Confidence recognising signs of illness or deterioration in an infant.
- Current Paediatric Basic Life Support/Paediatric First Aid training.
- Excellent infection\-control and hygiene knowledge.
- An appropriate enhanced DBS check.
- Excellent professional references.
- The ability to work independently and confidently throughout the night.
- A calm, caring and reassuring manner.
Working Arrangement
This is a private overnight position within the family home. The Night Nurse will take responsibility for the baby’s overnight care during the agreed hours and provide a comprehensive handover to the parents at the end of each shift.
Please note: applicants without relevant NHS/clinical medical experience will not be considered.
Pay: £25\.00 per hour
