Responsibilities
- You independently familiarize yourself with automated dosing of powders, granulates, and liquids in laboratory environments.
- You conduct research on the state of the art of commercial, semi‑commercial, and modular dosing solutions (e.g. screw feeders, pump systems, piston dispensers).
- You analyze existing solutions with regard to cost efficiency, flexibility, dosing accuracy, and automation potential for R\&D laboratories.
- You develop a modular system concept consisting of dosing units, weighing systems, containers/cartridges, and utility modules.
- You design a hardware and software architecture, including interfaces, traceability concepts, and workflow or recipe management.
- Optional: You support the implementation of a prototype or demonstrator, potentially including semi‑automated or robotic handling.
- You document your work and coordinate closely with stakeholders from different technical disciplines.
Qualifications
- You are enrolled in a master’s degree program in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or a comparable field.
- You have a strong technical understanding and interest in laboratory automation systems.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas is an advantage: Automation technology (motors, drives, sensors), Robotics (e.g. collaborative robots), Programming (e.g. Python or control‑related languages), CAD design or rapid prototyping (e.g. 3D printing)
- You work independently, in a structured manner, and enjoy both conceptual and hands‑on development tasks.
