Marketplace Manager
Role Overview
This is a pivotal role for someone ready to take full ownership of our marketplace strategy. Our marketplace presence is currently in its infancy on Amazon, and we are actively exploring expansion into new and emerging UK marketplace and retail media channels. The Marketplace Manager will be the architect of that growth — building the strategy, establishing the foundations, and executing with pace.
This is initially a six\-month fixed\-term contract, reflecting the early\-stage nature of our marketplace activity. There is a genuine opportunity for the right person to shape what this function looks like and to demonstrate the commercial impact that a well\-executed marketplace strategy can deliver for the Group.
We are looking for someone entrepreneurial and hands\-on, who can move quickly, set the direction, and bring the rest of the business with them. You will work cross\-functionally with commercial, marketing, supply chain, and technology teams, and will be the internal expert on everything marketplace.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategy \& Channel Expansion
- Own and develop the end\-to\-end marketplace strategy, with Amazon as the current primary channel and a clear roadmap for expansion into new and emerging UK marketplace platforms.
- Lead the onboarding of new marketplace channels, managing technical setup, content requirements, commercial terms, and launch planning.
- Identify whitespace opportunities and prioritise new platform partnerships based on commercial potential and brand fit.
- Act as the internal authority on marketplace trends, platform developments, and competitor activity.
- Own and manage the integration stack that connects our product catalogue, inventory, and order data to marketplace platforms — with hands\-on experience in Akeneo (PIM) and Lengow (feed management) being essential to this role.
- Work with the technology team to maintain, troubleshoot, and continuously improve data flows between systems, ensuring listings are always accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Manage product data quality within Akeneo, ensuring attribute completeness and marketplace\-specific content requirements are met at scale.
- Use Lengow to configure, optimise, and monitor product feeds across all active channels, adapting rules and mappings as platform requirements evolve.
- Manage and optimise product listings across all channels, ensuring SEO best practice, accurate categorisation, and strong conversion\-focused content.
- Monitor seller account health across platforms, responding swiftly to performance alerts, compliance issues, and customer escalations.
- Oversee inventory coordination with the warehouse and buying teams to prevent stockouts, minimise overage risk, and maintain fulfilment standards.
- Handle day\-to\-day platform administration including case management, claims, returns, and dispute resolution.
- Drive revenue and profitability growth across all marketplace channels, owning the P\&L and key performance metrics including sales, conversion rate, ACOS, TACOS, and organic rank.
- Plan, execute, and optimise paid advertising campaigns including Amazon PPC, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display, and equivalent formats on retail media platforms.
- Manage promotional calendars and peak trading events such as Prime Day, Black Friday, and platform\-specific sale periods.
- Conduct regular competitor and pricing analysis to inform strategy and maintain a competitive position.
- Build and maintain performance reporting dashboards, translating data into clear insights and actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Leverage Power BI (desirable) or equivalent tools to develop robust marketplace reporting that connects channel performance to wider business KPIs.
- Feed marketplace intelligence into commercial decisions including ranging, pricing, new product development, and promotional planning.
- Marketplace: Demonstrable experience managing and growing marketplace channels, with Amazon Seller Central or Vendor Central experience required.
- Akeneo: Hands\-on experience with Akeneo PIM — managing product data, attributes, and catalogue structure at scale.
- Lengow: Proven experience using Lengow or a comparable feed management platform to manage and optimise product feeds across multiple channels.
- Commercial: Strong commercial acumen with the ability to own a P\&L, set strategy, and deliver against ambitious growth targets.
- Channel Expansion: Experience onboarding new marketplace or retailer channels end\-to\-end, including technical and content setup.
- Analytical: Confident with data analysis — able to extract meaningful insights, spot trends, and present findings clearly to non\-technical stakeholders.
- Organisation: Excellent project management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Communication: Strong communicator and collaborator, comfortable influencing across functions and at senior level.
- Experience with Power BI or similar BI tools for building marketplace performance dashboards and reports.
- Familiarity with a range of UK marketplace and retail media platforms beyond Amazon.
- Knowledge of third\-party Amazon tools such as Helium 10, DataHawk, or Jungle Scout.
- Understanding of EDI processes and flat file / bulk upload workflows.
