The Marketing Analyst Apprentice performs an exciting role at MSC UK. You will learn how to apply analysis and interpretation skills that provide important commercial information and knowledge to MSC UK. The role will support the Senior Market Intelligence & Customer Insight Specialist to analyse a variety of data sources and use these to identify external opportunities, risks and market trends.
You will utilise Microsoft Excel, PowerBI and other tools to analyse and draw meaning from a range of data sources. By playing a supporting role in bringing the insights that are buried in our data to the surface, you will help provide the visibility required to identify new commercial opportunities, define target audiences and ultimately grow our business.
This Level 4 Apprenticeship covers the fundamentals of data, advanced data analytics, programming languages, SQL, machine learning, AI & statistical analysis. Around half your time in this role will involve dealing with data.
This programme will take between 14-16 months to complete.
How you will help us and what you can expect
- Utilise a range of tools and methods to gather customer and market data such as macroeconomic trends, competitor information, customer feedback, commodities shipped, trades utilised and product uptake
- Make effective use of available tools such as Power BI to assist with analysis of large volumes of market and customer data
- Support with the creation of presentations and reports that clearly identify commercial implications, opportunities and potential next actions
- Undertake competitor analysis to inform our market positioning and customer value proposition
- Provide day-to-day support to the Senior Market Intelligence and Customer Insight Specialist
- Always adhere to MSC’s policies
Qualifications:
- Maths and English at GCSE (grade A-C / 4-9) is a mandatory requirement for this Apprenticeship
- This programme is best suited to those who already use data to solve business related problems. Experience of using business data is therefore desirable
- Nevertheless, experience from a data related role is not a prerequisite. For those new to a data role, it’s possible to undertake this level 4 Apprenticeship, provided you meet the other role requirements listed in this section
- Data related knowledge and skills highly desirable
- Competent numerical skills
- A good understanding and working knowledge of Office 365 applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- The ability to collaborate and work effectively with others as part of a team
- The capability to investigate issues and develop solutions to problems
- The ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
- Strong organisational abilities, including being comfortable working across multiple projects
- A keen, independent learner with a confident, curious mindset
- Commercial awareness highly desirable – a basic understanding of how a business operates, including financial considerations, customer needs, and how the role contributes to wider organisational objectives
