About the BRAC International Microfinance:
BRAC International Microfinance (BI MF) oversees its microfinance subsidiaries outside Bangladesh, which are wholly or majority owned by the legal entity BRAC International Holdings B.V. (BIHBV), operating across eight countries in Africa and Asia. Within this mandate, BI MF expands financial inclusion by responsibly delivering financial services to people at the bottom of the pyramid, particularly women living in poverty in rural and hard\-to\-reach areas, to create self\-employment opportunities, build financial resilience, and harness their entrepreneurial spirit by empowering them economically. The achievement of both 'Impact and Scale' are critically important, ensuring that each subsidiary has systems in place to realise both components of the mission.
BI MF provides strategic direction, governance oversight, and institutional strengthening across the portfolio. Today, its operations serve over one million clients (97% women), managing a loan portfolio of approximately USD 277 million, and employing over 7,000 staff, of whom 87% are female.
About the Role:
Manager, Investment is a critical role within the finance and accounts team of BI MF. S/he will work closely with the Lead, Investments, BI MF and Manager, Treasury, BI MF; to ensure the smooth running of the treasury functions of the Dutch\-based holding company, as well as select Microfinance entities out of the MFI operations in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Liberia Ghana and Kenya. The activities the manager will be expected to lead and support will include budgeting/ forecasting, cash management, surplus funds investment, financial risk management, capital budgeting, sourcing funds and investor relations.
The manager will gain broad\-based exposure to the operations of this mission\-focused organisation with the potential to specialise as they advance. They will be expected to take initiative early on and will have the opportunity to grow and develop as the team expands. The role will be hands\-on with the opportunity to travel to countries of operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Lead, Investments and Treasury with the development, enhancement and maintenance of financial risk analysis tools and take ownership of those tools.
- Conduct market research and financial analysis into potential investment opportunities for surplus funds at the direction of Investment and Treasury Team.
- Own and maintain financial database (including loans, covenants, maturities), review quarterly and annual investor reports shared by the MFIs, manage funding pipelines, and prepare investor, lender, and Board materials.
- Manage assigned investor and lender relationships and day\-to\-day fundraising activities, including investor communication, follow\-ups, information requests, meeting coordination and internal stakeholder engagement.
- Manage assigned funding transactions from initial assessment through due diligence, negotiation, internal approval and drawdown, coordinating with subsidiary MFIs, Finance, Legal, Treasury, investors, lenders and external advisers as required.
- Monitor financial and non\-financial covenant compliance, upcoming obligations and portfolio developments; coordinate routine follow\-ups and escalate breaches, potential breaches, material deterioration and waiver requirements to the Lead, Investments and Treasury.
- Prepare high\-quality materials and presentations for investors, lenders, management, and the Board, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery.
- Lead and coordinate investment due diligence and transaction processes with investors through reviewing documentation and presentation, and financial models for BI MF and its subsidiaries.
- Ensure process discipline, strong document management practises including but not limited to version control, comment tracking, and follow\-ups with internal and external stakeholders.
- Undertake other duties as delegated by Director Finance and other colleagues.
- Implement programme decisions keeping the safety and dignity of programme participants/clients at the center, mitigate safeguarding risks and contribute to a safe working environment where staff are respected and feel confident to voice concerns without fear of retaliation.
- Receive mandatory training on the safeguarding policies and reporting channels and have access to policies.
- Participate in discussions on the safeguarding agenda in monthly meetings and actively voice concerns without fear.
- Report safeguarding incidents witnessed or experiences to the Safeguarding department. For known cases, maintain neutrality, be sensitive and non\-judgemental to victims/survivors, and cooperate with organisational investigations providing accurate information as needed.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a reputed university with a Major in Finance/ Accounting/ Economics
- Certification in recognised Professional Qualifications in Finance will be advantageous.
- Graduates with 3\-5 years of experience working in a corporate finance or corporate\-finance\-related role, such as with an investment bank, consultancy/ advisory firm, financial institution, investment organisation, or commercial organisation
- Experience of working for (or a demonstrable desire to work for) an organisation whose mission is to provide a range of financial services responsibly to people at the bottom of the pyramid.
- Experience working in or with emerging or frontier markets;
- Experience in microfinance will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of corporate finance gained either through studies or professional experience.
- Understanding of financial products and derivatives.
- Proficiency with MS Office, including strong fluency with Excel formulas and functions, and producing compelling presentations in PowerPoint.
- Ability to construct a financial model is an advantage.
- Strong research, analysis and data\-gathering skills.
- Strong English writing skills (additional languages welcome).
- Strong interpersonal/ communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative and make independent decisions.
- Mobile and flexible mindset for international travel as required.
- Flexible to work from distant location.
- Possess high ethical and moral standards.
