Management Accountant

The OpportunitySupporting the Director of Finance, this position would suit a qualified accountant, or an individual with substantial equivalent experience, who combines strong management accounting and financial control expertise with the confidence and capability to influence systems, processes and reporting improvements.
Key ResponsibilitiesThis varied and highly visible role will include:

• Production of high-quality monthly management accounts, forecasts and financial analysis.


• Strengthening financial controls, assurance processes and governance frameworks.


• Leading balance sheet integrity, reconciliations and statutory compliance activities.


• Oversight and development of the finance team, providing leadership, coaching and technical guidance.


• Responsibility for payroll, pensions and associated financial accounting processes.


• Driving digital transformation across finance systems, reporting and data management.


• Developing dashboards, reporting tools and financial insights using digital technologies.


• Supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and business planning activities.


• Acting as a trusted business partner to operational leaders and senior stakeholders.


• Identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and enhance decision-making.

About You

• Fully qualified ACA/CIMA/ACCA or substantial equivalent senior finance experience.


• Strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and reporting expertise.


• A solid understanding of financial controls, reconciliations and assurance activities.


• Experience of supervising, developing or leading finance team members.


• Strong Excel and financial systems' knowledge.


• A track record of improving processes, systems and reporting.


• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial information for non-finance stakeholders.


• A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong commercial awareness.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary up to £57,000 per annum, dependent upon experience


• Full-time permanent role 37.5 hours per week, flexible working arrangements considered for the right candidate


• Enhanced pension scheme, employer contribution rate of 23.7%


• 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 27 days after two years and 30 days after five years

• Hybrid and remote working options available, with approximately monthly travel across North Cumbria.
