We are seeking a compassionate, patient and adaptable Male SEN Tutor to support a Year 10 learner on a 1:1 basis.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a tutor who enjoys relationship\-based work and can provide calm, structured support for a young person with Communication \& Interaction and SEMH needs.

About the Role:

  • Deliver engaging KS4 Maths and English sessions in a community setting (library\-based)

  • Provide 4 hours of face\-to\-face tuition per week each Monday morning

  • Support a learner who thrives in low\-demand, supportive environments

  • Build trust and confidence gradually through consistent sessions

  • Assist with travel training, including supported bus journeys to and from the library

  • Liaise with external training providers to align learning approaches

  • Monitor progress and complete weekly reports
The Ideal Tutor Will:
  • Have experience supporting learners with SEN, SEMH, autism or anxiety\-related barriers to education

  • Be calm, flexible and emotionally aware

  • Use visual strategies, structured learning and differentiated teaching approaches

  • Be confident supporting emotional regulation and communication development

  • Understand sensory needs and how these can impact engagement

  • Build positive, trusting relationships at the learner’s pace

  • Be comfortable working in community settings rather than traditional classrooms
Key Information:
  • 1 session per week (Monday preferred)

  • 4 hours per session

  • No online learning

  • Library computers/resources will be used during sessions
Desired Outcomes:
  • Improve confidence and emotional regulation

  • Support communication and independence skills

  • Complete baseline assessments

  • Develop successful travel training routines

  • Support transition planning and reintegration into specialist education
This role would suit a tutor, mentor, TA, HLTA or teacher with a nurturing, person\-centred approach and experience supporting young people outside of mainstream education.

Pay: £28\.00\-£30\.00 per hour
