As part of our continued growth, we are currently looking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer to strengthen our team at our Cucina Site in Manchester .
About The Role
As part of our continued growth, we are recruiting a Maintenance Engineer to support and strengthen our team at our Bicester depot. This is a hands‑on, proactive role, ensuring our site remains safe, compliant, well‑maintained, and fully operational to support our fast‑moving wholesale environment.
You will take ownership of day‑to‑day facilities management, carrying out general maintenance tasks, coordinating contractors, and ensuring our warehouse and surrounding areas are kept to a high standard. Working closely with operational teams, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and well‑organised site that enables our people to work effectively and our customers to receive the best possible service.

Key Responsibilities:
Planned \& Reactive Maintenance
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on processing and packaging equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults quickly to reduce downtime
- Respond to breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner
- Maintain machinery such as conveyors, fillers, mixers, ovens, refrigeration systems, and packaging lines
- Work with electrical systems (motors, sensors, PLCs, control panels)
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Identify root causes of recurring issues and implement corrective actions
- Suggest and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and safety
- Support lean manufacturing / continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure all maintenance activities meet food hygiene standards (e.g. HACCP, BRC)
- Follow strict cleaning, sanitation, and contamination control procedures
- Maintain accurate maintenance records for audits and compliance
- Adhere to all H\&S regulations, including safe isolation (LOTO) procedures
- Ensure equipment is safe to operate and report hazards immediately
- Participate in risk assessments and safety initiatives
- Work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams
- Provide technical support and guidance to operators
- Maintain clear documentation of all maintenance activities
Essential
- Engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 / HNC / HND in Engineering)
- Experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of PLCs and automated systems
- Understanding of food safety standards (HACCP, hygiene practices)
- Multi\-skilled (electrical \+ mechanical)
- Experience in food production or high\-care environments
- Welding, fabrication, or refrigeration experience
- Familiarity with CMMS systems
- Problem\-solving and fault\-finding
- Time management and ability to prioritise work
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast\-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Equipment downtime reduction
- PPM completion rate
- Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
- Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)
- Compliance with food safety and audit standards
