Logistics & Warehouse Manager

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced, hands\-on, and highly organised Logistics \& Warehouse Manager to oversee the day\-to\-day operation of our materials warehouse supporting our field\-based tradesmen and engineers across Sussex and the South East.

This role is critical to ensuring our teams have the right materials, equipment, and stock available at the right time to deliver projects efficiently and maintain excellent customer service. The successful candidate will manage warehouse operations, stock control, logistics coordination, fleet support, supplier deliveries, and materials distribution while driving continuous improvement across the operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operation of the warehouse, including goods\-in, goods\-out, stock control, order picking, and materials distribution to engineers and tradesmen.


• Ensure field engineers and site teams are supplied with the correct materials, tools, PPE, and equipment to meet project and maintenance requirements.


• Coordinate deliveries, collections, and logistics scheduling to support reactive and planned works across multiple sites.


• Supervise warehouse staff and drivers, providing leadership, training, and performance management to maintain high operational standards.


• Maintain accurate inventory records and oversee stock replenishment to minimise shortages and delays to projects.


• Work closely with procurement, operations managers, and engineers to forecast material requirements and improve stock availability.


• Manage supplier relationships and coordinate incoming deliveries from manufacturers and distributors.


• Oversee warehouse organisation, layout, and storage systems to maximise efficiency and maintain a clean, safe working environment.


• Operate and supervise the safe use of forklift trucks and warehouse equipment.


• Implement process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve operational efficiency.


• Support fleet and vehicle logistics, ensuring engineers are properly equipped and vehicles are stocked appropriately.


• Monitor logistics costs and support budget control across warehouse and transport activities.


• Ensure compliance with all health \& safety regulations, company procedures, and industry best practices.


• Assist with out\-of\-hours operational support when required.

• Proven experience in a warehouse, logistics, or materials management role, ideally within engineering, construction, facilities management, or building services.


• Previous experience supervising warehouse teams and coordinating logistics operations.


• Strong understanding of stock control, inventory management, and materials handling processes.


• Experience supporting mobile engineers, tradesmen, or multi\-site operations is highly desirable.


• Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, or stock management software.


• Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to prioritise workload in a fast\-paced environment.


• Strong problem\-solving skills and a proactive approach to operational improvement.


• Good understanding of health \& safety procedures within a warehouse environment.


• Full UK driving licence preferred.

Pay: £13\.00\-£17\.00 per hour
