Logistics Transport Planner – Vans & HGVs

Our client is looking for an experienced and highly organised Logistics Transport Planner to join their busy transport operation based in Heathrow.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating the daily movement of our van and HGV fleet, ensuring deliveries and collections are completed safely, efficiently and on time. This is a fast-paced role that requires excellent communication, strong geographical knowledge and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily transport operations for vans and HGVs.


• Allocate work to drivers based on vehicle type, location, availability and customer requirements.


• Plan efficient delivery and collection routes while considering traffic, journey times and driver hours.


• Monitor vehicles and driver progress throughout the day and react quickly to delays or operational issues.


• Liaise with drivers, customers, suppliers and internal teams to ensure smooth transport operations.


• Manage last-minute changes, urgent deliveries and vehicle or driver issues.


• Ensure all transport activities comply with UK transport legislation, driver hours and company procedures.


• Maintain accurate transport records, schedules and delivery information.


• Coordinate vehicle movements around Heathrow and other UK locations.


• Work closely with the transport and warehouse teams to ensure vehicles are loaded and dispatched on schedule.


• Identify opportunities to improve fleet utilisation, route efficiency and operating costs.


• Escalate any incidents, delays, vehicle defects or compliance concerns appropriately.

They are looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in transport planning, logistics or fleet operations.


• Confident planning work for both vans and HGVs.


• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.


• Able to prioritise and make decisions in a busy, time-critical environment.


• A strong communicator who can build effective relationships with drivers and customers.


• Familiar with UK road networks


• Knowledgeable about drivers' hours, working time regulations and UK transport compliance.


• Able to work under pressure and deal effectively with unexpected changes.


• Previous experience in a road transport, haulage, or logistics environment is highly desirable.
