LOGISTICS TRAFFIC CLERK \& FLT OPERATOR – SCOTLAND DEPOT

£12\.79 PER HOUR \| £613\.92 PER WEEK \| APPROXIMATELY £31,923 PER ANNUM \| 48\-HOUR CONTRACT \| MONDAY TO FRIDAY

Are you an organised and reliable logistics professional who is equally comfortable supporting a busy traffic office and working hands\-on within a warehouse operation?

We are recruiting a Logistics Traffic Clerk \& FLT Operator to join our team at our Scotland Depot.

This is a varied role combining traffic administration, driver communication and customer service with practical FLT and deckworking responsibilities. You will help ensure our daily logistics operation runs safely, efficiently and professionally.

THE ROLE

  • Logistics Traffic Clerk \& FLT Operator

  • Location: Scotland Depot

  • Monday to Friday

  • Start time: 07:30

  • Contracted hours: 48 hours per week

  • Pay: £12\.79 per hour

  • Weekly earnings: £613\.92

  • Annual earnings: Approximately £31,923

  • Paid weekly every Thursday

  • Permanent, full\-time position
You will support the management team by notifying drivers of their routes, loads and scheduled delivery times, helping to ensure the smooth running of our daily transport operation.

You will also liaise with customers, maintain accurate records and support the traffic function while working as part of the Deckworker team to manage the movement, handling and storage of freight safely and efficiently.

The role involves operating FLTs and other Manual Handling Equipment and handling freight containing predominantly hazardous materials.

TRAFFIC AND ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contact drivers and brief them on their scheduled loads, routes and delivery times

  • Conduct driver debriefs once deliveries have been completed

  • Use and maintain computerised systems to maximise operational efficiency and customer service

  • Ensure all transport and delivery documentation is completed accurately

  • Work closely with drivers to identify and resolve operational issues

  • Liaise professionally with customers regarding delays, late deliveries or other service issues

  • Monitor delivery progress and promptly report any areas of concern to management

  • Check manifests, delivery paperwork and other relevant documentation

  • Record the arrival, departure, movement and storage of goods

  • Maintain inventory information and help track the fulfilment of customer orders

  • Provide general administrative and operational support to the management team

  • Maintain strict compliance with transport regulations and Company health, safety and quality procedures
FLT, DECKWORKING AND WAREHOUSE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate FLTs and other Manual Handling Equipment safely, completing all required pre\-shift checks

  • Load, unload and move palletised or loose freight safely and efficiently, including hazardous materials

  • Manually handle freight of varying sizes and weights, which may involve some heavy lifting

  • Prepare vehicles for loading and unloading, including opening and closing curtains and securing freight for transport

  • Ensure goods are stored safely in the correct designated areas and moved in accordance with operational schedules

  • Complete all required freight, weight and movement records accurately

  • Report damage, shortages, defects, maintenance concerns, accidents and incidents promptly

  • Maintain excellent housekeeping by following clean\-as\-you\-go procedures and storing pallets, crates and materials safely

  • Work collaboratively with the Deckworker team to maintain a safe, efficient and customer\-focused operation

  • Complete any other reasonable duties requested by the management team

  • Has experience within transport, logistics, distribution, warehousing or a similar operational environment

  • Has experience operating an FLT and other Manual Handling Equipment

  • Is comfortable combining traffic\-office responsibilities with practical warehouse duties

  • Can communicate confidently and professionally with drivers, customers, colleagues and managers

  • Is confident using computerised systems and completing operational documentation

  • Has strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail

  • Can manage competing priorities within a busy logistics environment

  • Understands the importance of transport compliance, health and safety and quality procedures

  • Can work safely with freight containing hazardous materials

  • Is physically capable of undertaking manual handling duties, including some heavy lifting

  • Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team
