As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking an experienced and driven Logistics Manager to lead and develop our Logistics function, ensuring we remain a trusted and reputable operator within the industry.
THE ROLE.
Reporting directly to senior management, the Logistics Manager will assume full operational and regulatory responsibility for the Group’s Logistics function, spanning both the taxi and road freight divisions. This is a pivotal, hands\-on leadership role for a commercially minded professional who thrives in a fast\-paced, multi\-disciplinary Logistics environment.
You will be the nominated Logistics Manager on the Company’s Operator’s Licence and will carry the statutory responsibility that accompanies that designation. Day to day, you will manage vehicle scheduling, driver deployment, compliance monitoring, and operational planning, ensuring the highest standards of service delivery and safety are maintained across all operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.
- Serve as the nominated Logistics Manager on the Company’s Operator’s Licence, maintaining full compliance with DVSA requirements and licence undertakings.
- Oversee the day\-to\-day scheduling and dispatch of vehicles and drivers across both the taxi and freight divisions, optimising resource utilisation and route efficiency.
- Manage and maintain a robust vehicle inspection and preventative maintenance programme, ensuring all vehicles remain roadworthy and legally compliant at all times.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with drivers’ hours regulations, working time legislation, and tachograph requirements in accordance with UK and EU rules.
- Recruit, induct, and manage drivers, conducting regular performance reviews and providing coaching and training to maintain high operational standards.
- Investigate and resolve any incidents, accidents, or complaints in a timely and professional manner, implementing corrective actions where appropriate.
- Liaise with the DVSA, Traffic Commissioners, and other regulatory authorities as required, representing the Company at any public inquiries or compliance hearings.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to vehicles, drivers, licences, and compliance activities, ensuring all records are readily accessible for audit.
- Develop and implement Logistics policies and standard operating procedures, continuously reviewing processes to improve efficiency, safety, and cost\-effectiveness.
- Control Logistics\-related costs, contributing to budgeting processes and identifying opportunities for operational savings without compromising service quality.
- Act as the primary point of contact for key clients and stakeholders on Logistics\-related matters, building and maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Collaborate with senior management on the strategic development and growth of the Group’s Logistics operations.
We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate the following experience:
- A minimum of three years of proven experience in a Logistics management or senior Logistics operations role within a road haulage, logistics, or mixed Logistics environment.
- Direct experience of managing both goods vehicle and private hire or taxi operations would be highly advantageous.
- Demonstrable experience of managing operator licence compliance and dealing with DVSA or Traffic Commissioner matters.
- A strong track record of leading and motivating driver teams and Logistics office personnel.
- Practical experience of managing vehicle maintenance programmes, defect management systems, and fleet scheduling.
- Experience of preparing for and responding to DVSA roadside encounters, operator compliance audits, or public inquiry appearances.
