Logistics & Customer Delivery Manager

We are an established furniture retailer completing 3,000\+ home deliveries every year to customers nationwide.

We are looking for a hands\-on Logistics \& Customer Delivery Manager to take ownership of our customer delivery experience, warehouse and delivery operation, managing a large ware house and a small team of drivers.

Customer service is a major part of this role. You will be the main point of contact for customers once their furniture is in production – personally arranging delivery dates, answering queries and keeping customers informed through to successful delivery.

We need someone who is excellent with people. Deliveries sometimes change due to traffic, vehicle issues or other circumstances, and you’ll be responsible for communicating with customers, managing expectations and resolving problems professionally.

The way our customers are treated is just as important to us as getting the logistics right. This is also a hands\-on role. You’ll be expected to get involved when required – unloading lorries, moving furniture, loading vehicles and supporting the delivery team.

Key Responsibilities

\- Organise stock transfers between warehouse and our stores

\- Check and book in stock from suppliers

\- Own the customer delivery experience from booking through to successful delivery.

\- Deal professionally with customer questions, changes, delays and delivery issues.

\- Proactively keep customers informed rather than waiting for them to chase us.

\- Manage and organise a small team of delivery drivers.

\- Plan efficient nationwide routes using our routing software.

\- Conduct stock checks

\- Liaise with suppliers and coordinate incoming warehouse deliveries.

\- Manage vehicle compliance, servicing, safety inspections, annual tests and daily defect checks.

\- Manage Health \& Safety and ensure forklift, manual handling and other staff training/certification remains up to date.

\- Lead our planned move from 3\.5\-tonne vans to a 7\.5\-tonne vehicle, including coordinating our Restricted Operator’s Licence application and implementing the required maintenance, safety, tachograph, drivers’ hours and record\-keeping procedures.

\- Maintain a safe and organised warehouse and physically assist with loading, unloading and moving furniture when required.

About You

First and foremost, you must have excellent customer service and communication skills. We want someone friendly, confident and professional who genuinely understands the importance of looking after customers.

You’ll also need to be highly organised, practical and comfortable taking ownership of a busy operation. Experience managing people and a good understanding of logistics, transport, warehousing or home delivery is important.

Previous experience with Operator Licensing, 7\.5\-tonne/HGV operations, tachographs or commercial vehicle compliance would be a strong advantage.

You don't need to be an expert in every area of transport legislation or personally deliver staff training. You do need to be capable of identifying what is required, arranging appropriate external support and making sure everything remains compliant.

You must also be physically capable and willing to work alongside the team when required.

Pay: £36,000\.00\-£40,000\.00 per year
