Locum Consultant in Community Paediatrics
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Community Paediatrician at the Whittington Health NHS Trust. This is to fill a recently vacated post .
The post holder be expected to participate in the clinical, educational and continuing professional development activities of the department, ideally taking over the Named Doctor role for Safeguarding, but this is not mandatory. This is a fixed term contract for 6 months in first instance, with subsequent application for a substantive post. Where possible we will try to adapt the clinical aspect of this post to the successful applicant’s area of interest if aligned to the needs of the local population.
The safeguarding role will be supported by the Designated Doctor of Child Protection
The main location is at the Northern Health Centre in Upper Holloway in Islington, London. This is where the community paediatricians, the therapists, audiology, dietetics and the CAMHS service is co\-located.

Duties of the post
Summary outline:
1\. Special School clinics 1 per week
2\. Neurodevelopmental clinics 3 community clinics per months: one multi\-disciplinary clinic for children with conditions significantly affecting their posture and movement (PD clinic) who are not (yet) in special needs schools and two clinics a month
3\. ASD diagnostic clinic (1PA)– to be part of the Social Communication Team and participate in the MDT diagnostic process.
4\. CP second on call (2 hours per call) the CP on call is fortnightly on Wednesdays
5\. SPA (1\.5 PA) CPD, this includes departmental meetings, mandatory training and own appraisal
6\. Named doctor for safeguarding – if this role is taken up, it is 2PA. There will then be less community clinic commitment per week
