Freeland Horticulture is a leader in the industry, and we are currently seeking a dedicated Loading Shovel Operator to join our team at our Finningley site. This role is central to our composting operations, where you will be responsible for the transformation of raw materials into high\-

The Role: You won’t just be moving dirt; you will be playing a key role in our production process. Your primary focus will be the systematic management of composting windrows—turning, screening, and loading—to ensure our production targets are met with precision and safety.

Hours : Monday \- Friday 07:00 \- 17:00 and Overtime commitment is required seasonally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Precision Operation: Expertly operate loading shovels to screen, turn, and aerate composting windrows.

  • Logistics \& Loading: Efficiently load vehicles for dispatch and manage site stockpiles.

  • Machine Care: Conduct daily pre\-start checks and routine maintenance to ensure your machine stays in peak operating condition.

  • Site Excellence: Assist with general site upkeep and ensure all activities meet our high health, safety, and environmental standards.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the site team to ensure a smooth flow of materials and meet daily production deadlines.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Proven Experience: Demonstrated ability to operate a loading shovel in an industrial, waste, or construction environment. (Experience with excavators or an HGV/LGV licence is a strong advantage).

  • Certification: A valid loading shovel ticket (CPCS/NPORS/relevant industry accreditation).

  • Reliability: You are a dependable team player who is comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Mechanical Awareness: A good understanding of machine functions and the ability to troubleshoot minor issues.

  • Flexibility: As our operation requires consistent throughput, a regular commitment to Saturday work is essential for this role.
