Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Live\-in Carer to provide personalised support and assistance to clients in their own homes. The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering high\-quality care, ensuring the comfort, safety, and well\-being of those they support. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with individuals requiring assistance with daily activities, including elderly clients or those with special needs. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining a caring environment and supporting clients in maintaining their independence and dignity.
Responsibilities
- Provide personalised patient care, including assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility.
- Administer medication accurately and monitor health conditions in accordance with care plans.
- Assist with meal preparation, ensuring nutritional needs are met and dietary restrictions are adhered to.
- Support clients with assisted living tasks, including light housekeeping and organising daily routines.
- Manage behaviour effectively, especially in cases involving dementia or Alzheimer's care, employing patience and understanding.
- Offer emotional support and companionship to promote mental well\-being.
- Drive clients safely to appointments or outings as required.
- Handle heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Maintain detailed records of care provided and communicate effectively with family members or healthcare professionals.
- Proven experience in senior care, home care, or nursing environments, including nursing home experience.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s, dementia, hospice, and behaviour management techniques.
- Strong caregiving skills with a focus on patient safety and comfort.
- First aid certification is desirable to respond effectively in emergencies.
- Excellent organisational skills for meal preparation and medication administration.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours with empathy and professionalism.
- Valid driving licence for transportation duties when required.
- Childcare experience is advantageous for supporting families with young children or additional needs.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing or walking within the client’s home environment.
