Ardwick Day Nursery is looking for an experienced, caring and enthusiastic Level 3 Nursery Practitioner to join our team.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the EYFS, safeguarding and child development. You will act as a key person, plan meaningful learning experiences and help children make good progress from their individual starting points.

As an experienced practitioner, you will also model high\-quality practice, support less\-experienced colleagues and contribute to the effective day\-to\-day organisation of the room.

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as a key person and build secure, positive relationships with children and their families.

  • Provide high\-quality care in a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.

  • Plan and deliver engaging activities based on children’s interests, needs and developmental stages.

  • Support children’s communication, language, physical, personal, social and emotional development.

  • Observe and assess children’s learning and use this information to plan appropriate next steps.

  • Maintain accurate and up\-to\-date records for key children.

  • Promote positive behaviour using calm, consistent and age\-appropriate strategies.

  • Encourage children’s independence, confidence, resilience and self\-regulation.

  • Create and maintain a stimulating, well\-organised learning environment.

  • Work in partnership with parents and carers, sharing information about children’s progress and wellbeing.

  • Support children with SEND by following individual plans, targeted strategies and reasonable adjustments.

  • Work collaboratively with the nursery SENDCo and external professionals where appropriate.

  • Support the Room Leader with routines, staff deployment, planning and room organisation.

  • Model excellent practice and support apprentices, students and less\-experienced colleagues.

  • Contribute to staff meetings, supervision, training, self\-evaluation and nursery improvement.

  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and infection control.

  • Follow all safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and nursery policies.

  • Report safeguarding or welfare concerns promptly and appropriately.

  • Maintain high\-quality, inspection\-ready practice in line with the EYFS and Ofsted expectations.
Essential Requirements
  • A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification.

  • At least two years’ experience working in an early\-years or childcare setting.

  • Practical experience of working as a key person.

  • Good knowledge of the EYFS Statutory Framework.

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child\-protection responsibilities.

  • Experience completing observations, assessments and next\-step planning.

  • Confidence in communicating with children, parents and colleagues.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check and provide suitable employment references.
Desirable Requirements
  • Current Paediatric First Aid qualification; training can be provided if required.

  • Experience supporting children with SEND or developmental delays.

  • Experience mentoring apprentices, students or less\-experienced practitioners.

  • Knowledge of early language development and intervention strategies.

  • Experience supporting a Room Leader or taking responsibility for a room when required.
